Société Projects These are our ongoing projects:

The
Eye Is Not a Camera or
Drivel:
Adventures in Plumbing
is one of our current special projects. It is a satire of the computer game
Riven.
The Library provides a three dimensional exploration of Dr. René Lézard's research facilities in Renga. Rather than use conventional photography, we have chosen instead to construct a three dimensional digital model or these spaces. We feel that the implications of such emerging forms of representation and depiction warrant consideration both because of their conceptual interest and what they may tell us about the ways we see.
The Library itself provides a visual narrative about Dr. Lézard, his work and life. Think of this space as telling a story, describing a person and a place. It also provides links into other parts of the site and external sites of interest or relevance to the Société.
The
Gallery provides images of Dr. Lézard's life and work. Like
the library, they contribute to a narrative and visual representation of this
man's life and work.
Qwerty is the first part of this site to be constructed. It is part of our interest understanding the relationship between the alphabetical organization of knowledge and a visual one. Qwerty refers to the standard organization of the keyboard first constructed for manual typewriters and still the standard for most western computer users. This section of the site is presented in 27 pages, one for each letter of the English alphabet and one for roman numbers. Each of these pages contains buttons or images providing links either to other parts of this site or to pages on the World Wide Web we feel are relevant to our studies and interests or which we feel demonstrate some interesting use of images on the web. The Société would like to emphasize that while these are all sites we have found to be of interest, the sites to which we link do not represent the views of the Société. Nor should a link be taken as any kind of endorsement of or agreement with the sites to which they lead.
Our intent is to use icons and images as both cultural signifiers and semi-linguistic devices. Despite the alphabetical organization of these pages, the only information provided are images to speak of the possible links.
