The Société Lézard is dedicated to extending the work of Dr. René Anson Lézard in the area of visual epistemology. We are interested in all matter of visual experience and particularly seek to understand the ways in which these experiences form and effect our knowing. Further we seek to create and raise a critical consciousness about these processes. Areas of inquiry include, but are not limited to: visual perception, representation and depiction, art and aesthetics, semiotics, symbols and symbolism, ideographic, pictographic and other visual languages, cognitive psychology, the physiology of sight and systemic investigations of the senses in general.
