Kit Stringer was created somewhere between 1976 and 1980 to fill a perceived, if not necessarily real, need for girls playing Little League baseball to have a fictional hero to look up to, to imitate, to provide inspiration. Kit was to make the major leagues as a shortstop with the then future expansion team, the Boston Gloves.

Kit was to hit for average, field with grace and skill, and steal bases almost at will. I imagined that she would come to the attention of major league scouts through her play at the College World Series, where she played for Michigan.

This page displays some of the memorobilia that Kit inspired.
